Julia Slape

Principal

Julia graduated from Macquarie University, with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Economics in 1995 and was admitted to practice law in 1996.  Initially working in a small law firm, she became a partner and assisted in growing that firm and managing 5 solicitors and numerous support staff. In 2007 Julia went into sole practice before taking over a long standing firm to create Avoca Beach Law in 2010.

Since the commencement of her practice, Julia has been fortunate to be involved with many types of legalmatters and has now developed a keen interest in Wills and Estate Law, Conveyancing and Property Law, Family Law and Business Law.

Julia has developed a practice at Avoca Beach Law which provides a calm and comforting approach to matters, even when they may be fraught with stress and anxiety.  She prides herself and her business on providing a professional but compassionate approach in all matters making her clients feel at ease in their transactions.

Wills & Estates

Julia is passionate about working with clients to ensure that their Estate Planning is tailored to their circumstances; personally meeting with each client to discuss their needs and explain in simple and understandable terms the options that may be available to ensure their needs are met; creating documentation to assist at times when they may be needed (such as Wills, Powers of Attorney, Appointment of Enduring Guardians or Advanced Care directives) whether the circumstances are simple or complex.

She is compassionate and caring in her dealing with clients at times of loss and overwhelm which may be felt as they navigate the management of a deceased Estate.

Conveyancing and property transactions

Julia enjoys the process involved in completing a property transaction. She understands that this process can be confusing to clients who do not deal with this on a regular basis as well as stressful, when they are making one of the most significant investments of their life.

She has literally worked on many hundreds of matters for both purchasers and vendors on residential and commercial or investment properties; first time home buyers to experienced investors; and strives to meet each and every client’s needs throughout the transaction.  Attention to detail is provided in all matters from beginning to end.

Family Law

Her approach also provides a level of calm when dealing with what can sometimes be highly stressful Family Law matters. She has assisted clients in all matters arising from the breakdown of a relationship including Divorces, Distribution of matrimonial Property and matters dealing with the contact and living arrangements for children.

Julia has dealt with clients who are amicable with their ex-partner as well as when every issue is in dispute and the client is unable to communicate with their ex. She has also built up a practice in assisting and advising clients on entering into arrangements to document the protection of their assets at the commencement of new relationships or throughout that relationship when, in particular, financial circumstances change.

Julia is pragmatic in achieving the best result for each client taking all matters into consideration including “non-legal” matters and the extensive cost that these proceedings can sometimes bring to a client.

Business Law

Julia also enjoys dealing with business clients and assisting them with purchasing a new business, selling an existing business, creating documentation for the business for example, partnership agreements.

She has extensive experience in commercial leasing matters acting both for tenants and landlords in the creation of a Leasing Agreement or its continuation.

Community Support

Julia has been active in her support for the local community regularly contributing to Avoca Beach Rugby Club (both senior and junior divisions), Avoca Beach Surf Life Saving Club, Avoca Beach Kayak Club, Avoca Beach Primary School, over the years for different projects.

She also enjoys teaching physical culture (“Physie”) in which she has participated since she was 3 years of age and has in 2021 been appointed as the Central Coast Zone head co-ordinator for Bjelke Peterson Physical Culture.  Particularly she enjoys watching young girls in this arena blossom into strong and confident young women.
